BLOG TOUR: Without Faith Virtual Tour with Leslie Sherrod

About the Book
A diva and a gentleman have shown up for couples counseling, but now Sienna is the one in
danger....

She’s a sleuth. She’s a scorned wife. She’s a sista on a mission. Sienna St. James is more than a sharp-witted social worker. She’s a problem solver who keeps getting pulled into life-and-death mysteries that only complicate her already complex life. With a head-strong teenage son and a missing, estranged husband - who could be anywhere on the globe - Sienna has to figure out what gets her focus first: the questions she has about her own love and loss or the dangerous quirks and dark confusion of her current clients... And then there are the current eligible men around her who are jockeying for position, waiting for her to make up her mind about it all.

About the Author
Leslie J. Sherrod, the recipient of the SORMAG Readers Choice Award for Christian Author of the Year (2012), has a Masters in Social Work and has worked as a therapist, just like her

current protagonist, Sienna St. James. Her novels, Losing Hope, Secret Place, and Like Sheep Gone Astray have been featured in Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt Free Library Writer’s LIVE! Series, as well as local CBS and NBC affiliates, and on AOL’s Black Voices. She has received a starred review from Booklist and is a contributor to the bestselling A Cup of Comfort devotional series. A graduate of the University of Maryland, she also took courses in writing at The Johns Hopkins University. Leslie lives in Baltimore, Maryland with her husband and three children.

Excerpt
Sienna St. James is a woman who is dedicated to following her instincts and getting answers, even when doing so puts her own life and safety at risk. She is a social worker who keeps getting mysteries on her caseload, all while trying to manage the complex issues in her personal life.

As a social worker myself, I was intrigued at the idea of having a helping professional who is addressing harrowing situations while trying to maintain her own sense of sanity and integrity. Writing about her is somewhat of a release for me as I am frequently exposed to real life stories of pain, hurt, and devastation in my line of work. With Sienna St. James, I can broach those same topics but offer hope. I guess being able to control what happens and making sense out of the suffering is my own form of therapy.

Did I just say I can control what happens? That’s not entirely true. I have to follow my character’s lead, listen to her voice and trust that the story will go the way it’s supposed to. She’s different from me; dare I say braver? I try to insert myself into her courage as I write, but in doing so I also see her flaws, her questions, her doubts and her secret fears. The books are as much about the mysteries to be solved as they are about her own emotional and spiritual development. By the end of the story, a facet of her character has been exposed and polished for the better.

Without Faith, my newest release is the second book of the Sienna St. James series. Losing Hope was the first. The series is lighter than my novel, Secret Place, which addresses mental illness, but weightier than my first novel, Like Sheep Gone Astray, because of the issues it addresses. Sienna is not afraid to tackle difficult issues and challenges, so I had to step up my writing game to enter the action scenes along with her and allow myself to feel the wide scope of emotions she experiences. I am enjoying writing this series and watching my character grow along with the page-turning plotlines. My hope is that readers find as much joy delving into Sienna’s world as I did creating it – and also find hope, encouragement, faith and courage along the way!

About the Book

SHE HAD A PLAN
Personal banker, Feranmi Adewunmi has done well for herself in diaspora by any standards.
But by her parent’s calculations, she should be married by now. And they had the right man for her. For Feranmi, being single wasn’t a crime and so she came up with the perfect plan to beat them at their own game. All she needed was a man.

HE WAS SCORNED WITH A PAST
CEO of Montgomery Construction, Alex Montgomery was back in Atlanta. His primary focus was rebuilding his business after an unfortunate incident in Chicago changed his life forever. A chance meeting with Feranmi turned that plan upside down. The pain she caused him in school was still fresh in his mind but so were the feelings that never died. Now she needed a favor.

A BUDDING ROMANCE THREATENED BY SECRETS
For Feranmi time was running out. Her parents would be visiting soon and she still hadn’t found the perfect Nigerian man. Alex was her only option, after all how hard could it be? What they weren’t prepared for was an attraction they couldn’t ignore. Will they lean on the Lord for guidance or insist on being in control? Will his guarded dark past confirm her fears? BLOG TOUR: Flawfully Wedded Wives with Shana Burton

About the Author
As a child, Shana Johnson Burton, a native of Macon, Georgia, wanted to be two things: an author and a flower. Eventually, she sided with being an author. She is a two-time Georgia Author of the Year nominee and has received many awards and accolades for her work as both an author and educator. She is the mother of two children and enjoys reading, dancing, traveling, and taking long naps.

In addition to Flawfully Wedded Wives, Shana Burton is the author of Suddenly Single, First Comes Love, Catt Chasin’, Flaws and All, and Flaw Less.

About the Book
Just when Sullivan, Lawson, Kina, Angel, and Reginell finally think they’ve gotten life figured out, fate steps in and throws them all a curve ball, adding fuel to the drama that seems to follow the ladies wherever they go.

Mt. Zion’s first lady, Sullivan Webb, has left her philandering ways behind her, but lingering
questions surrounding her daughter’s paternity motivate Sullivan to seek out her own absentee father, Pastor Samuel Sullivan. What her search uncovers is years of lies, secrets, and betrayal that threaten to destroy the lives of almost everyone she loves.

Kina Battle’s newfound celebrity status as the winner of a popular weight-loss reality show goes to her head as quickly as she shed her unwanted pounds. Kina is prepared for the fame, endorsement deals, and celebrity appearances that come along with stardom. What she isn’t prepared for is the harsh backlash when her secrets are exposed and the public starts to question whether she is the devout Christian that she’s led everyone to believe she is.

Lawson Kerry Banks could get over her husband’s affair if the evidence wasn’t staring at her through the eyes of his love child. Lawson’s insecurities and inability to accept his child force Garrett to choose between the woman he loves and the child he’s fathered.

Life as the soon-to-be wife of high school football coach Mark Vinson lacks the excitement of Reginell Kerry’s former life. It certainly lacks the financial security that pulling down $1000 a week as an exotic dancer afforded her. When the bills start to pile up, Reginell goes back to doing what she knows best, only this time it may cost her more than she’s willing to pay.

Angel King’s broken heart finds a safe place to mend in the arms of high school classmate Jordan McKay. He respects her decision to abstain from sex until marriage, he loves the Lord, and he adores her. However, Jordan is harboring a dangerous secret that could destroy their relationship and leave Angel brokenhearted once again.

The ladies often fall victim to being led by their hearts instead of their heads. This time, they may have gone too far.

Book Excerpt:

Sullivan Webb
“Every little girl deserves to be her daddy’s princess, even you, Sullivan,” said Charles.  “It breaks my heart that you didn’t have that.”
Sullivan sighed.  “Vera would be a strong contestant for the Worst Mother Ever title, but I can’t blame her or my dad for the mistakes I’ve made as an adult.  It makes me sick to my stomach when I think about how much I’ve hurt you.”
“I’m strong, Sullivan.  I’m okay.  I went into this marriage with you with my eyes wide open.”
“Yeah, but I know I made you want to close them and pretend this was all some horrible nightmare! You couldn’t have predicted my drinking problems, the affair with Vaughn, or my psychotic mother.”
“We’ve all made our mistakes, Sullivan, myself included.”
“You’re no saint, Charles, but compared to me, you’re seated on the throne next to Jesus!”
He laughed.  “You’re not so bad, my beauty. The drinking, Vaughn and that whole mess are all in the past.”
Sullivan nodded, looking down at her baby, who smiled at the sight of her mother.  Sullivan desperately wanted to believe her husband and embrace the idea that all of her past sins were behind her.  After all, hadn’t the Bible said she was a new creature in Christ and had been forgiven?  She allowed Charity to squeeze her finger.  Though Sullivan returned Charity’s smile, she couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that, instead of being behind her, the living evidence of her sins was staring her in face.

BLOG TOUR: Guilty by Association Blog Tour

About the Author

Pat Simmons is a self-proclaimed genealogy sleuth. She is passionate about digging up the dirt on her ancestors, then casting them in starring roles in her novels. She has been a genealogy enthusiast since her great-grandmother died at the young age of ninety-seven years old. Pat has won numerous awards for her novels which include: Talk to Me, Grace and Humility and Still Guilty, which was voted the Best Inspirational Romance for 2010. Pat is best known for her Guilty series: Guilty of Love, Not Guilty of Love, and Still Guilty. She is continuing the series through the Jamieson Family Legacy trilogy: Guilty by Association, The Guilt Trip, Free From Guilt. Pat has recently been nominated for the best Christian fiction award by the African American Literary Awards for her latest release, Crowning Glory.  Pat and her husband live in Missouri and have two children. Visit Patricia at http://www.patsimmons.net.

About the Book

The Jamieson Family Legacy series follow the lives of two Jamieson brothers in Boston, Kidd and Ace, and their cousin, Cameron, from St. Louis. The older brother, Kidd, is struggling with anger and resentment issues toward his absentee father who never married his mother. Yet, he had the audacity to demand his illegitimate sons carry his Jamieson name. Ace, on the other hand, is on his collision course to be a chip off the old block when it comes to women. Their highly MIT educated cousin, Cameron Jamieson, is all about saving family from self-destruction. Through genealogy research, Cameron's mission is to show his cousins their worth as the eleventh generation descendants of a royal African tribe and to give them a choice: live with the stereotypical "angry black men" syndrome or to crush any obstacles that try and stop them to become strong successful black men.

There are three books in the Jamieson Legacy series: Guilty by Association (Kidd's story), The Guilt Trip (Ace's story), and Free from Guilt (Cameron's story). Each of the three Jamieson men have to accept that their past and present are in God's hand, and without Him they can't advance to their future blessings. The bonus storyline in Guilty by Association is one that progresses the story of the much-loved character in the previous three book Guilty Series, Grandma BB. This time, she picks up a sidekick Mrs. Valentine.

Guilty by Association is the story of Boston bad boy Kevin "Kidd" Jamieson.  His gripe is with his father who dared to insist that his two illegitimate sons carry his last name.  To add insult to injury, the man never bothered to stick around to provide love and guidance as his boys matured into men.  Kidd's anger overflows into every area of his life. As his animosity festers, Kidd becomes as a roaring lion, seeking whatever and whomever he can devour.  He's as gritty as his cousin in St. Louis, Parke Jamieson VI, is polished. The two strong-willed men clash when Kidd relocates to St. Louis where his cousin assures him it's a land of milk and money in job opportunities. Where is lands a job is far from it.

Through a series of events that involve Grandma BB, her dog named Silent Killer and her Stacy Adams shoes, Kidd meets two women who recognize his hostile tendencies and immediately begin to administer CPR to his soul. LPN Eva Savoy eventually becomes his "Eve," a woman God created from the underlying goodness hidden in Kidd's own heart.

Reluctantly, Kidd allows Parke to divulge information about their royal family heritage. While everyone's care and compassion begins to smother Kidd, he struggles to keep up the bad boy attitude as his walls start to crumble. Kidd learns it's not his association with the name that identifies him, but the man he becomes that defines him.

Guilty by Association, by Pat Simmons is the first installment of the Jamieson Legacy. Kevin Jamieson, affectionately nicknamed “Kidd”, has been struggling with abandonment issues. And, like many black men, he’s angry at the world and his father. If it were up to him, he wouldn’t have his father’s last name. The Jamieson meant everything he never wanted to be.
Kidd is soon sought after by Jamieson descents, and Kidd is none too happy about it. After much thought, Kidd finally gives in to the Jamieson plea for him to learn more about his family history, Kidd heads to St. Louis, Missouri for a better life, love and revelations of his African heritage.
The book was slow at times, and I found myself having to put it down on occasion, as I could not read it in one sitting. Nonetheless, it was a good book. I enjoyed the way Simmons weaved genealogy and ancestry into the storyline. I am interested in the other installments of the Jamieson Legacy and am equally interested in following Kevin and Eva through their journey.
