Money Can’t Buy Love by bestselling author Connie Briscoe is the story of Lenora Stone. Lenora is drowning in debt and desperately trying to hang on to her boyfriend of three years—who really shows no interest in her. Even though he has cheated on her before, she can’t seem to put a finger on why he appears to be so distant.
In addition to money and relationship problems, Lenora, a photographer, despises her evil boss. For entertainment purposes, Lenora humors herself and purchases a lottery ticket. She was sure she wouldn’t win, until she does.
Lenora’s life begins to change. The funny thing about it is, with her newfound fortune, the people in Lenora’s life begin to change, including her attention-lacking boyfriend. Things begin to spiral out of hand and she soon finds out that Money Can’t Buy Love.
I’ve enjoyed many of Ms. Briscoe’s novels; however, this one did not move me as much as past novels by this author have. If it weren’t for the “lottery” factor, I’d have to say this novel read more like a YA novel.
Fortunately, Connie Briscoe has written other great stories and I look forward to reading her next novel.

About the Book

At age thirty-eight, instead of socializing with Baltimore’s A-list, Lenora Stone photographs them for Baltimore Scene, a glossy magazine filled with beautiful people who, unlike Lenora, never have to worry about car trouble and overdue bills. Lately even things with her boyfriend Gerald haven’t been right. They’ve been together for three years but he can’t seem to ask the one question she’s been waiting to hear.

Review Wednesday - A Good Excuse to Be Bad by Miranda Parker

In her debut novel, author Miranda Parker gives us the action-packed, witty and romantic first installment of her Angel Crawford Novel. A Good Excuse to Be Bad is entertaining and exciting.
Angel Crawford has traded her job as a reporter for Atlanta based Sentinel for the dangerous yet exciting life of a bounty hunter. She may inherit a few bumps and bruises in the process, but she always gets her man . . . or woman.
Angel soon finds herself in a world wind of emotions when she finds her twin sister Ava leaning over her dead husband’s body. To make things complicated, Justin Morgan, her pastor, has decided to be her savior and her sidekick. That wouldn’t normally be a problem, if she weren’t falling for him.
Together these two leap into action to clear Ava’s name and find out what really happened that night at the McMansion.
Is this a case of a crime of passion? You’ll have to read A Good Excuse to Be Bad to find out. Miranda Parker has done an excellent job with this novel and I look forward to reading the next installment.
Kudos to Ms. Parker for smooth, enjoyable and uncomplicated!

REVIEW Wednesday - Ruthless by Shelia M. Goss

Uriah and Bathsheba Richards are a loving couple residing in Shreveport, Louisiana. Uriah is lucky to have Bathsheba and would do anything to keep her happy, including working hard for media mogul David King. Uriah’s is to get Bathsheba the house of her dreams and to pay for her frequent retail therapy session.
Bathsheba is a nurse at a local hospital when she is reunited with her long lost sister. When you find out who she is, you’ll be shocked. Bathsheba meets Uriah’s boss at a gala and Mr. King shows very little discretion about his plight for this beautiful woman. She makes it clear that she loves her husband, but even the strongest of flesh can be weakened.
David King, CEO of Dallas based DM King Media has offices around the country and oversees. He is powerful and has everything a man could ever want, except the woman of his dreams. That until he meets his employee’s wife, Bathsheba. He will do anything he can to make Sheba his, even if that means sending her husband to Afghanistan to get him out of the way.
I cannot give this review its due justice without giving away the story line. However, I will say this: Ruthless is full of sinning, sainthood, tons of praying and God’s grace.
Ruthless by Shelia M. Goss does not disappoint in the drama department. It is an example of what we’ve come to expect from this bestselling author. Once again, she has showed us her tremendous ability to weave a story line that always has a message. You have got to read this book!
