Teen Author JerrKelia L. Bazile

About the Author
JerrKelia L. Bazile, better known as KeeKee. She is a sixteen year old female born in Dallas, Texas at Medical City Hospital. She comes from a well-rounded family, but still far from perfect. She’s the youngest of three children and they get along like best friends. Her mother and father are great supporters of the three children and want nothing but the very best for each. KeeKee is a proud god mother that enjoys spending quality time with her god son.

She is a member of Zion Baptist Church in Rowlett, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Dayvid L. Griggs Jr. She is active in the church youth choir, bible drill team and praise dance ministry. The bible drill team has competed in every National Baptist Training Union and Sunday School Congress competition since 2000 and has always brought home the biggest trophy. She is currently a senior in High School and is expected to graduate in 2010. She was on both the track team and the step team her freshman and sophomore years of high school. Her junior year, she was a varsity cheerleader and is now a senior, still on varsity cheering team. KeeKee’s future plans are to attend a top ranked University and study optometry.

She was motivated to write this book for many different reasons:
  • To share her experience in hopes of helping someone else avoid making the same mistake she did
  • To help bring awareness to the dangers of piercing
  • To spread the importance of education
  • To raise HIV and AIDS awareness among teens
  • Lack of employment during these tough economic times, and the rising unemployment rate
Hobbies: cheerleading, gymnastics, dancing, watching movies, hanging out with friends and shopping.

About the Books
It's rare to find a teenager that has the aspirations to write and publish a book and it certainly wasn't my intentions. But God has his way of guiding His children in the direction that He wants us to go. Now, I can proudly say that I have authored two books and the third one will soon follow. Through my writing and speaking skills, it has helped better the lives of many of my peers and adults as well! The First book I wrote is entitled,The Piercing That Changed My Life! At the young age of 16 years old, I felt compelled to write after I had strayed away from my parental teachings. Now available: My second Book is entitled, The Color of My Skin!

It's based on a true story about a young black teenage female (KeeKee) inspired to be a high school cheerleader at a predominantly white high school, in a predominantly white neighborhood. As a result of being in that environment, I had to constantly battle against the invisible forces of institutional racism. Many of my peers with lesser determination would have surrendered in defeat or at the very lease, retreated to a silent state of discouragement. However, the real message of my book is not to dwell on racism, institutionalized or not, but to elevate the victories over the struggles and obstacles that I faced to become one of the first black varsity cheerleaders at Sachse High, since the opening of its first public school in the early 1900's.

Author and Adoptee Rosa Elmore Ferguson

Rosa Elmore Ferguson is the author of LOVED TO DEATH: A Different Kind of Love Story and LOVED TO DEATH: The Truth Unfolds. LOVED TO DEATH: The City Speaks will be out in early 2011.

Born Infant Sleigh, Mrs. Ferguson, and adoptee, has been searching for her biology for over forty years. Rosa uses her writing to release the frustration and anger caused by failed attempts to find out who she is and where she came from. The author would like her readers to have a better understanding of what can happen when they become a part of an unsuccessful adoption triad.

Mrs. Ferguson is the proud mother of two sets of twins and currently resides in Olive Branch, MS with her husband.

In LOVED TO DEATH: A Different Kind of Love Story and the sequel, LOVED TO DEATH: The Truth Unfolds readers are introduced to a fictional Gaston City, Indiana and will see it through the eyes of Morosa Denise McKinley.  Morosa is the adopted daughter of Morrow and Rose McKinley.  Adoption, love, murder and intrigue seem to rule the day with the underlying theme being the pitfalls of adoption and what happens when a person isn't allowed to know the truth about themselves.  These are the first two books in the LOVED TO DEATH short story trilogy

Meet Author and Minister Russell Blake

My name is Russel Blake.  I'm an Ordained Minister/ Music Producer/Concert Soloist/Educator/Author.  Thus far I've been privileged to have Performed/Toured/Taught in 65 countries.  As a professional Bassist I've had the good fortune to have performed with a wide variety of Artists and situations.  I have performed with Sonny Rollins, Chaka Khan, Mary Mary, Cybil Shepherd, Tramaine Hawkins, Wynton Marsalis, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Paquito D' Rivera, Harry Belafonte, Brenda Russell, The Lion King & DreamGirls on Broadway in NYC, Micah Stampley, Angie Stone, Bryon Cage, Mary Wells, Pharoah Sanders, etc;... As a Concert Soloist and Educator I've been contracted to perform in 8 West African Nations as an Ambassador of Goodwill by the U.S. State Department as well as the State of California Department of Corrections to teach/perform my Music History & Cultural Program to 5000 inmates of Ironwood State Prison. I was also a Kellogg Foundation Artist- In- Residence Recipient to teach/perform said program to the Kalamazoo & Battle Creek Michigan school districts.  I've also taught as a Professor of Electrical Bass Studies at five universities across the country.

My debut book is titled “Proverbs 31: The Virtuous Black Woman Volume 1.”  My book is significantly bonded to my passion for the empowerment, support, success and edification of Women.  Volume 1 is specifically for African, Caribbean and African-American Women.  Black Women represent a distinct and singular barometer of the state of our community. Historically, there acumen of nurturing and insightful acuity of wise understanding has inarguably saved the race. Modern times presents a Black Woman both academically educated and morally edified. Fueling the ranks of successful entrepreneurship, leadership in corporate America and the Presidencies of stabilized African nations.  My book globally speaks to Black men to acknowledge the priceless value/existence of the Black Woman, and to Black Women to assert their inalienable rights in deserving unwavering dignity, love and respect.  My goal is to be an effective catalyst and positive communicator in the way Black Men & Women (especially our youth) perceive the Women of our community.  Mission Statement: “If One Black Woman Is Thought To Be Expendable, Then Every Black Woman’s Immeasurable Value Is Diminished In The Eyes Of The World”.

Precious Woman of God; The one whose Soul encompasses His fruits of charity, kindness and compassion; I am ever grateful unto the Lord that my presence has found a refuge of abiding solace and loving favor within your Spirit.

Before coming to you, a Man should always seek to place himself in a prayerful state that he may kindly abide within the realm of your Beautiful Soul; God is there providing warmth while a gentle rain is nourishing the fertile flowers of love and compassion that emanate inside of you; In hearing the cadenced tempo of your loving heart, I find myself in a setting of quietude whereupon a Man may viably petition and prayerfully seek unto the Lord to rest his strengthened masculinity;

My Beautiful Virtuous Black Woman; All of the qualities innate to the second human being created on the Earth to be a help meet to the first, are inherently and singularly abiding in you; I stand indebted unto God for His creation of you and as a strong Black Man from Brooklyn will ever stand before you to protect you; Behind you to support you; Beside you to walk together and eternally in stride as God intended.

I am merely a Traveler; One purposed by God in the short six and a half cycles of my life on this plane to have already experienced several lifetimes;  As for you; I am grateful to know that you have not portioned yourself under no illusions; God has by virtue of His great love for you seen fit to be both incisive and sensitive; Prudent, yet principled; Bountiful, yet keeping your heart unvarnished in the things of this world.

Virtuous Black Woman; I love your love of God; I love your life in God; I am fixed not by what you say but; By what you faith into your life by way of your prayerful obedience and reverence of humility unto Him;

Therefore, let all who seek your hurt incur the taste of ashes and eat the fruit of bitterness as they themselves will dwell in the ditch they dug privily for you; For they know not your God nor His Word which foretells His vengeance; The gates of hell are opened unto them by the promiscuity of there deceit;

My God through the fruits of my salvation in JESUS has faithfully blessed me with you; Your nobility of character, penchant for knowledge and depth of partiality for God’s Word has saved the race; I as all strong Black Men are indebted unto Almighty God for the blessed anointing of you in our lives;

Through the expanse of time may God let my sojourn continue to be hallowed by your unmistakable presence; I love you and yearn to eternally embrace you; In JESUS Name; Forevermore;

Any accolades attributed to me are the result of the solid foundation provided by a loving grandfather. This great man assertively implanted the concept that knowledge is power, which developed into the understanding that education is the single most important ingredient necessary to neutralize those forces that breed poverty and despair. This philosophy planted the seeds that cultivated a life, which is “Just a Season.”

Just a Season is a luminous story into the life of a man who, in the midst of pain and loss, journeys back in time to reexamine all the important people, circumstances, and intellectual fervor that contributed to the richness of his life. This fictional narrative begins with a grief-stricken father visiting the grave site of his beloved son who was killed in a tragic accident; a moment that he and no other loving parent should ever have to face. As he sadly gazes at his son’s headstone and reads what is inscribed there, the dates 1981 – 2001 bring about an illuminating discovery.
The tiny dash that separates the years of one’s birth and death represents the whole of a person’s life. So if this tiny dash were to tell his life’s story, what would it say? In Just a Season, the dash of this man’s life is revealed and what emerges from the pages of this book is a legacy of true benevolence and grace.
